So I decided to give you a sneak peek into Hailee’s hallway. Pretty much this is one of my most favorite painting projects ever.
And it was super easy!
Start by measuring your stripes. I used a paint stir stick for all of the measurements. Literally all of them.
There was a lot of changing things up as we went. So for you to duplicate the end result you will just have to hold on tight. The pictures may seem out of order but it will turn out fine. Promise.
First you paint your base color:
Then you are going to take a level or a laser level and draw light pencil lines around the space.
After you do that its time to tape! I love the Edgelock tons. It had great adhesion.
One thing to remember that when you are taping off lines you need to put the tape on the inside of the lines that are going to be your wall color. That way your stripes will be the same.
Now for the chevron… Like I said earlier the idea evolved like it so often does here…
Mark the center of your stripe: (I did this with masking tape)
Then measure the distance that you want your zig to go and draw a line.
Start your tape at the top of one line and bring it down to the bottom of the next line (or visa versa)
Here is where we changed it up. See in the above pic how the points cross into the horizontal line? That is cause I was originally going to paint just the stripes teal, so in order for the chevrons that have points we had to move the horizontal tape.
To get a perfect point just use a razor blade. You cant tell I promise.
This is what it should look like when its done.
The secret to getting perfect lines is to paint your base color over the top of the tape. Works every time!
Here is what it looks like with the tape off of the taupe stripe and still on the teal stripe:
Peel while you paint is still wet and you will get cleaner lines!
And there you go!! Awesome project right!?

Love the teal. I would use the scotch blue tape to help with painting my ceiling.
Love the stripes! Our eldest (a senior in high school) has asked me to repaint his new bedroom just like his old room which means striped walls! This tape would make my job so much easier and quicker!

I always need tape, because I’m always starting some new painting project – up next may be a charcoal gray wall in our living room, although since we’re renting I have to decide if it’s worth the effort to paint and then paint back to renter’s beige in a short amount of time…
That’s seriously amazing! What a bold statement. LOVE IT. I’d have to use it on my dining room which has required lots of painters tape (I’m currently on roll #3 for the room and not done!)

That hallway looks incredible! Great job! Oooo, this tape would be a big help for painting the gray stripes I want to do on a small vintage school chair I found at a yard sale. Its too girly right now (someone handpainted flowers on it); I need to boy it up a bit for my little man.
I would love some Scotch blue tape! I want to section off a wall in my toddler’s room and paint him a chalk wall!

Wow, love your guts. I painted a turquoise stripe around my bathroom, using the “other” tape. Didn’t work so well. Would love some of the “real” scottsblue tape to re-do it. Can’t wait to see the rest of the project!
OHMYWORD that’s awesome!! My bedroom is desperately in need of an updated paint job. I want to paint a big, chunky chevron pattern on one wall as an accent. I think it’ll turn out fantastic but some tape would def help. 😉

Wow….I hope to be brave enough to do something like that in my home! Looks awesome! I used scotchblue tape to paint a stripe around the top qbd bottom of our entryway console table.

I would use Scotch Blue Tape to revamp my living room. I just painted it a fun yellow and now all the molding needs a new fresh coat of white paint!
Wow—amazing look on that way. I’d use the tape in my bedroom to make some stripey design on the 2 remaining white walls.
