Well hello there!
Welcome to Vintage Revivals New BFF!!
Let me tell you a short story of a Girl.
This girl had never believed that she had the design skills or resources to decorate her home. So she didn't.
2 years ago she stumbled across the (then much smaller world) of DIY Blogs and was hooked. So she started one. With no knowledge, being a complete spray paint virgin, but had determination to learn things along the way.
I am that girl.
And guess what?!
You can be that girl too.
Vintage Revivals is stuffed to the stinkin gills with DIY projects that you will not see anywhere else, no really, few are as crazy as I am. Like giving away a complete room makeover to one lucky reader, where else have you seen that? No where, that’s where. Every project has a complete tutorial so you can recreate it yourself.
Its not as hard as it looks. pinky promise..
I believe that your house should reflect you. Your style, your personality, and should feel the way you want it to feel. All without spending thousands of $ on crap. I have a little secret for you...its much funner to learn to thrift and find your own!!
Stores and catalogs should not dictate you design.
Guess why? Because they dont know how freaking awesome you are. That's why! But I do.
So I hope that you will stick around, below is a little bit more about me and what you can find in this awesome community of Vintage Revivals.
Love Your Guts, Mandi
I am a stay at home momma of 2 beautiful/slightly crazy girls. I have been married for 10 years to my hero and totally hot husband Courtney. I live in Southern Utah and sweat to death about 80% of the year. I grew up in Salt Lake and actually prefer sweat to snow, so there you go. Oh my gosh, I should add poet to my list of credentials!
I have been featured on The Nate Berkus Show a few times, and was named one of the Top 6 Best DIY Blogs by Apartment Therapy.
I was also on TLC's Craft Wars (not my finest moment, but loved every second of it.)
Some people call me the MacGyver of DIYers. I will gladly accept that title.
I started Vintage Revivals in July of 2010. I had discovered the vast world of DIY blogging and I was hooked. All of my neighbors called me and were wondering what the crap I was spray painting in 119 degree heat, so I kind of started it as a way for everyone to keep track of the craziness that is Mandi Gubler. ps. spray paint dries instantly in that type of weather. Which is good if you are in a hurry like I normally am.
I describe my style as Thrift Shop Glam. Sounds awesome right? Ya, I made it up. you can read more about it HERE
You can see the complete list of all Vintage Revivals projects in the Project Graveyard and trust me, there are some GOOOOOOD ones.
I am also a completely normal (ish) person. You can read all about my husbands struggle to overcome addiction to pain killers and my struggle to overcome my addiction to him (aka Codependency) in My Real Life Story
I like long walks on the beach, any type of dessert, and one day would love to have my own TV show.
Oh and you should know that in real life I am EXACTLY like I am on my blog...so when you see a word in all caps picture jazz hands.
So there you go. I hope that you will be inspired to go outside of your comfort zone and do something CRAZY!
I love comments and emails, so if you have a question about anything you have seen here or just want to say "Whuuuuuuuuuuuuutzzzzzzzzzzzz Uppppppp?!" (You have to say that with your tongue sticking out for the full effect.) I would love to hear from you!!

ReplyDeletei found your blog through ucreate. i love, love it. i dig your style and your unique spin you put on everything.
ReplyDeletei also give you mad props for being so real. you don't find that much in bloggy land. i'm adamant about being real on my blog, too, and it's refreshing to see someone with a popular blog who isn't fake.
Awesome - I'm in St George too and have my own little Ivy! ;) Great name, great blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Mandi,
ReplyDeleteI just met you for the first time on the Nate show. Needless to say I thought you were great ! You may call yourself a Thrift shop glam, but I would call you an Artist.
I have now started following you on Twitter. Keep up the great ideas...

ReplyDeleteYou're a total rockstar, Mandi! You owned the Nate Show today-- good showing! I think Nate should just go ahead and give you your own segment!

Wow I love this!!! I will be copying your every move on this blog haha!! You amaze me. Thank you so much for all of these posts. I saw you on the Nate Show. I am now convinced I could live in St. George with people like you there. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteHi Mandi-
ReplyDeleteI just saw you on the Nate Burkus show yesterday. I just loved all of your pictures of your house. I was really drawn to the mirrors/frames that you made. So darn CUTE and very creative! I looked you up on Nate's website, then leading me to your website/blog. I read your story about Court...WOW! I have been through some of those same things that you talked about. I loved your story and I love, love your work! I am a very advid thrift store shopper myself and I will pick up something on the curb in a minute!! I gotta say girl...you just rock!! I am going to try the mirror thing and I also love your tea pot lamp!! Thankyou for your inspiration and your awesome creativity!! p.s. I love sray paint as well!
Love from a thrifty gal-Monet
Saw you on the Nate Show yesterday!! OMG Love your place!! I also love taking Junk and repainting it and giving it new Life!! What an inspiration you are!! You just inspired me to paint an antique Mirror white from your Wall O Mirrors :)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you purchase the stencil (yellow/white)? I cannot get enough of it! I want to make my entry more grandiose by adding a cloche mirror to further incorporate the pattern. BTW - how cool are you? The Nate Show? I saw you and couldn't watch the whole segment because my 2yr old was demanding my attention, so I caught up on your blog. I consider myself creative but you sort of put me to shame and Nate's not calling, so there ya go. I dig your honesty and raw vibe. Thanks for being real.
ReplyDeleteI am about to buy my first home and have been avidly watching the Nate show for design ideas- when I saw you and your amazing vintage look mirrors I was SO excited. I've always been a determined DIYer, but you have given me so much inspiration!! Your blog is now a bookmark I visit consistently and my thrift shop forays have been full of reclaimable furniture and old frames :) Thank you for sharing your amazing creativity in such a candid way!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! And even though you are from Utah (haha don't be offended!), I love you too because you have a Longhorn hat on in one of the photos.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and your ideas. So cool. I have awarded you the Sytlin' Award. To accept, check out http://notquitesuperhuman.blogspot.com/2011/04/coolness-i-got-some-awards.html
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I don't say craptastic, but I do say craptacular. :)
ReplyDeleteOh and I like your blog, and the Hate Mail blog.
Keep it real, and I look forward to reading more about your adventures in DIY :)
Mandi, I thought it would be polite to read more about you before linking up my plea to have a makeover. You are howlingly funny and inspirational at the same time. Expect a lot of stalking (from me) and bloggy love in your future!
ReplyDeleteLove your stuff, I am a total stalker! I need your pro advice :), I have been scouring the internet for a gray and white fabric in the same pattern as your living room wall (with the casablanca stencil). I want a gray background with white pattern on it to cover a chair, I am in LOVE with that pattern (debating doing it on an accent wall in the room I am redoing). ANYway, have you run across fabric in that pattern? What would you call it if you were going to search for it? I have wasted TONS of time looking and have found nothing (which is odd, that pattern seems so popular, but ya know, when you are looking for it, no way you're gonna find it...). Any advice would be great! -Mandy (we even have the same name... special... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mandi! I saw you on Nate Berkus and thought you were wonderful and your house was bomb. House Proud is RIGHT. You are one creative lady. I now have your blog bookmarked and I hit it daily. You inspire me! I scored two rugs at IKEA yesterday, cut them in half and taped them together and now I have an even bigger rug that is green and white striped in my kitchen eating area. It's fresh. I also scored a $9 mirror at Salvation Army and I spray painted it apple green... that didn't look right.. then I spray painted it black (too glossy) and then I painted it tumeric and sanded it back and it looks fab-U. Keep up the inspiration work!
ReplyDeleteMichelle from Mpls
I am so impressed with your abilities - I love your ideas and skills. Thanks so much for sharing your stuff.
ReplyDeleteSo I was blog stalking my sisters sister in law the other day and low and behold there was a picture of you and a link to your blog....how in the heck did I not know that you did this when I lived so close to you before?!? I chalk it up to the fact that I was new to the area, a little shy, very pregnant, and in my own little 1 bedroom condo bubble! So happy to see you succeeding and love, love, love your blog and your awesome style! Miss seeing you and your kiddos on sundays!~Brenna
ReplyDeleteI was lifted by your story. I happened across your site, when I was in a very bad mood, and feeling sorry for myself and going through some hard times.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned your husband is totally hot.... Have you looked in the mirror? So are you!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Denmark! WHAT AN AMAZING blog you have. You a lot like me (except I don't have much time for putting all my - sometimes crazy - ideas to life unfortunately). But boy have you given me inspiration BIG TIME!!! THANK YOU so much for sharing with us all... fab fab fab....
ReplyDeleteRegards
Millie

ReplyDeleteWow, you are completely the opposite of me...I love it! I've looked around at a few of your posts, and I think I'm hooked ;-) And I wish there was a Canadian version of you to come make over my master bedroom.
ReplyDeleteHi just found your blog (via tin foil cabinet) and I love it your fearless creativity and your energy - it is inspiring. Makes me want ot gett off my a** and start on all those projects I've been thinking about but never done.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
PS. love LOVE the little 'CRAP, I'm Awesome' cushion.
You are an inspiration! After stalking your blog for like, a year, I've decided to start my own blog (mainly for myself) but also for friends and family that look at my crazy life and wonder how we (me and MY totally hot husband) can get it all done. We own a video production company here in the lovely state of WI, have 3 kids AND we renovate our 155 yr old house mostly by ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I digress.
I LOVE your blog! I love your style! I love your humor! Thank you for being honest and open! It's like a breath of fresh air. :)
Can't wait to see your future projects!
Hi Mandi! I just came across your blog and LOVE your "about me" page - it just screams personality! I mustered the courage to start my own blog a few months ago after, much like you, falling in love with too many design blogs. I'm excited to comb through some of your projects and hopefully find some inspiration to get going on more of my own!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog and my kind of girl...didn't know anybody else said, "I love your guts!"
