My Best Baby Investment To Date. Also, Look at My Cute Baby

There are SO many things to buy when babies come into our lives right? And man there is so much more stuff you have to have compared to 7 years ago when I had Dyl. Its dizzying. Of all of the things to spend money one though, the best thing that I’ve bought is photography.

Around Halloween I was at a party, eating and chatting with other moms. Lots of them have had kids recently so I was picking their brains on what the latest and greatest was. One of them asked if I’d booked a newborn photo session with Chelsy from B. Couture yet (because you have to hold your spot suuuuuper far in advance). They all chimed in and the way they talked about it I felt like one of those moms that didn’t register their kid for private school when I was 4 weeks pregnant and now the rest of their life they’d be perpetually behind.  The second I got home I emailed Chelsy and asked if she could squeeze me in.  Luckily she was able to because the pictures that she got are priceless. I wasn’t planning on being in any of them (a week postpartum will do that to you) but I am so glad that I have a few.

Hold on to your ovaries.

In this day and age where everyone is a photographer, let me just say that everyone is NOT a newborn photographer. I had no idea what went into it until I was there experiencing it first hand. This girl is the real deal and while it wasn’t cheap ($375) I would do it again in a heartbeat.  If you are in Southern Utah, you can contact her here!

Thanks again Chels!!

We only had baby photography with our last one (the 4th). So sad that we didn’t do it with our others. Although money was a lot tighter for us then, I really wish now that that was something we had saved for. Weird! Worth more than all the darling baby gear in the world.

Gorgeous photos! I have to say that a professional photographer makes a huge difference… it’s good to also have those skills yourself for home photos, but you just can’t be behind the camera and in the picture at the same time!

Oh. My. Gosh. That very last picture is just… perfection. I hated everything about pregnancy and birth, but I’m thinking that it might be worth it now.

So cute – love that knit onesie especially (do you have a link to buy?)! I have to laugh at the regional pricing inequities of newborn photography. I am pregnant with our second and luckily we were gifted with a newborn session with our first. So now we are pricing out photographers in Central New Jersey and I’m looking at prices ranging from $700 – $1200!!! I love our photos for our first so to me this is still an investment worth making…I’m rationalizing that I don’t have to buy a crib/stroller/etc this time around. (Now doesn’t $375 sound like such a steal!?! #northeastproblems #fml)

Beautiful, beautiful photos. As a fellow professional photographer, I have to say, she is a steal for $375 for that quality! Newborn photography really is a specialty niche, and it is so important to trust your precious baby with someone who knows what they are doing, keeps the safety of your sweet baby as their first priority, AND provides you with amazing photos that you will cherish forever! That sounds almost like a public service announcement! But it is so true!

I’d love to have newborn photos taken. I’d also like myself, my husband and my step-daughter to be involved in the photos. How soon after having baby did you have the shoot? Im due in April! Not long now!

Good thing I work at a childcare center and can hold babies all day because these pics are killing me!!! Two young kids and getting ready to turn 40, not a good time to be adding a newborn to my life. 😯😁😁
