A Mattress in a Box!

By Mandi 09/29/2014

You know those nagging feelings that certain things give you? Like every time your dishwasher finished the cycle, and your dishes only look 50% cleaner? You know you neeeeeed to get it fixed, but instead you just shut the door and run the cycle again? (Don’t lie, you do that too.)

That is how I have felt about my mattress. It is so old and broken in and not in the sweet spot way that Uncle Jesse talks about on Full House. It has been the thing on my list , you know, the list of stuff that needs replacing but always gets pushed down when stuff like dentist visits and new tires come up?

I may have jumped for joy when Sleep Innovations emailed about sending me one of their mattresses. Sleep Innovations Memory Foam Mattress comes in a box so I will admit, I was a little bit skeptical. I mean, a mattress in a box? But after doing some research about the quality, I was really excited to witness it for myself.

When it finally came time to open the mattress, the entire family was present because of the coolness factor. I even caught it on video for you guys.

You guys would never guess by laying on it that it came from such a humble albeit genius beginning. Transport was simple. It is a 2 person job to pull it out of the box (ok. lets be honest, Court could have done it by himself, but I made it a 2 person job…)

It took about 30 minutes before all 4 corners were laying flat against the box spring but it is mind boggling to think how it fit inside the box in the first place. And although it comes in a box, it is super high quality and feels just like one of the expensive memory foam mattresses that are thousands of dollars and giant to move around.

Getting good sleep is crucial to my busy life, and I am happy to say that this awesome new mattress is responsible for at least 4 out of the 7 z’s that make up ZZZzzzz the last few weeks.

2 things, if you are interested in trying a Sleep Innovations mattress out for yourself, you will want to do that here. Also,  Sleep Innovations is giving away a mattress on their facebook page as we speak, so get on that too!

For more info check out their website, and this video:

I teamed up with Sleep Innovations for this post, all opinions are my own, as well as the drool on my pillow.

  1. These look nice! I bought a new mattress two years ago and I already hate it and this looks like a good option. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not finding anywhere to purchase one or find pricing.

  2. Okay, this comment has nothing to do with matresses (though that one looks awesome and cool headboard too!)… I stumbled upon your blog from pinterest (where else?!) and have to say that I love your blog! And your boston (we have two!)!! Look forward to getting some time to come back and read some more! 🙂

  3. I just bought one of these bad boys from Costco a few months ago and it’s so comfortable. I love it! Best mattress I’ve had, not that I’ve had many to really compare it to besides old hand me downs.

  4. Hope the mattress is better, way better than it’s advertising video. One minute of a dancing as an intro to a two minute video is shameful. I hope they got a deal on production. Or maybe the CEO’s daughter is a dancer and come up the the idea. Sheesh.

  5. Which mattress did you get from Sleep Innovations. Was it the 14″ memory foam model? I’m looking for a matress to get up a small stairwell so this sounds like a great option. Thanks!

  6. Seeing this, I can’t help but giggle, and have to share my memory foam story.
I got a new memory foam mattress (our first new in a new new, not new-to-us way)earlier this year, from a local overstock type dealer, and since it was a great price, comfortable, eco-friendly, and manufactured semi-locally (about an hour away) I got it, without the hubs, because he thought it was a great idea to put ME, the super indecisive I-can’t-even-decide-what-I-want-to-eat part of this duo in charge of one of our biggest purchases to date. Imagine the look on his face when he showed up to get our new, and super talked-up, bed, and it was in a box no bigger than our 7 year old! Oh, the lecture I got!
He decided to just take the lesson (you know, don’t make the indecisive one make a choice, or she’ll just totally buy into the salesman’s spiel and be done with it) and opened it up, and, since I had to work third shift, I have to take his word for it, but after I left for work, and he tucked babies in their mattresses for the night (did I mention we were moving?) he sat on the mattress, and apparently fell into a deep coma of heaven until I woke him up the next morning!
We still make jokes about how it seemed like the little mattress that wouldn’t, but is one of the best things we own! Of course, I just realized we put it down upside down, which explains why the zipper top is impossible to get off!

  7. We got our memory foam mattress off of Amazon. The great thing about memory foam is that so long as you know what density and thickness you want, the different models really are comparable. There’s no need to pay Tempurpedic prices. The memory foam mattresses coming in a box is standard – only feasible way to ship them is to compress them! We’ve had ours for about 5 years and it’s just like new. It also cost $400 instead of $2000.

  8. HEY!! I love coming to your blog and checking out all of your cool stuff and see how Nugget is doing.
I too just got the Sleep Innovations mattress about a month ago! Buzzing around Amazon, looking at reviews, settled on this company and HAPPY I did. Yes, insane how they get that monster rolled into a tube and packaged in a sturdier than wood box. I had the pleasure of setting our king size. 12″ bad boy, all by myself. I think sweat was involved, but I did it!!
