Thrifting Finds from the Weekend

By Mandi 07/30/2014

I cannot believe it is already Wednesday! Holy.

I will be the first to admit that I have been a lackluster thrifter for the last few months. Buying everything in sight for The Hoard Sale will do that to a girl. Not to mention summer, and The Nugs,  I just needed to take a little break.

Hope you folks in St. George enjoyed the pickins, cause I am back.

I feel like the thrifting gods have missed me, as evidenced by the great things that I scored at the DI (Utah’s version of Goodwill) on Saturday.

Thrifting Finds

Dish Holder $2.00,  Footed Mid Century Enamel Bowl $3.00, Teacups $1.00 each

Thrifting Finds-2

Thrifting Finds-3

Thrifting Finds-6

Tomato Suitcase $2.00,  Ceramic Vase $1.00,  White Bowl with Lid $2.00

Thrifting Finds-5

This chair is one of my favorites ever!! I couldn’t believe that it was only $10. It has a little damage on one of the arms, and as soon as I figure out how to repair it I will let you guys know!

Ivie is going through a phase where she wants to know all about everything that I loved when I was her age. Saved By The Bell is topping our Netflix queue right now, with Full House a close second. So when we found these Trolls it was safe to say that we were both extremely excited about it.

Thrifting Finds-8

Have you scored anything amazing recently? Pretty please hashtag it #colddeadfingers so that we can see it!!

  1. You find the best things. I plan to visit our DI this week. I will say prayers to the thrifting gods.
    love ya.

  2. You always find such good stuff! For your chair, what if you found some kind of trim (or strip of thin leather in an alternate color )wide enough to cover the hole and run it from the outside edge piping down along the inside seam piping to the seat?

  3. When I saw that chair on your Instagram feed – my heart skipped a little beat in excitement for you. And TROLLS! I still remember my troll with purple hair and purple gem belly button. Those trolls must have had a top-notch salon, because their hair still looks amazing. 🙂

  4. Hey Mandi, first thing. Love that orange bowl. Secondly, I found a product that works great on leather. I’m not sure what kind of damage your chair has but it may be worth looking into. I’ve used it on a chair and recently on an ottoman. It is called rub n restore and you can check it out on my blog.

  5. I’m going tomorrow with my friend who is a thrifting rookie and can hardly get over the thought of digging for stuff. I told her Girl, watch, get out the way, my goggles are on and I’m diving in! Hopefully I can turn her into a believer too!

  6. Bahaha. Cold dead fingers?! You’re the funniest, ya freak. I always enjoy swinging by your blog…the coolest projects and a sense of humor. Love it! Also, trollssssssss. Too soon.

  7. Wow what a score! I love your orange train case! I have one that was my Grandmothers’ and I have dabbled a bit but no success so far. Do you know what you are going to do with yours? And now I have realized I have lost my trolls!!! I would love to have then now.

  8. I had a talking troll that I loved until it malfunctioned in the middle of the night and started talking and scared the SH*T out of me. My dad had to hide it in the basement for me to sleep and my love for trolls was never the same 🙂

  9. Go the the auto supply store and get a leather repair kit. 3M makes an easy to use one – just follow those directions closely! 🙂

  10. Recently found what I thought was a glass wild boar – and it was crystal (Cristal D’Arques) and worth quite a bit (paid £1 for it – around $2). Also found an Orangina straw holder for around $3 to brighten up my kitchen. Love markets and thrift shops!

  11. back in my day ( a LOOOONNNG time ago) when I was a little girl, we had to use our Troll dolls as babies for our Barbies!! I am pretty sure they have actual Barbie babies nowadays, but I wouldn’t know for sure, since I had only boy kids, and never got to buy Barbie anything, LOL!!!

  12. im having thrifter envy about that little suitcase. I buy them any time i see them, whether I have a plan for them or not. I have a huge stack in the attic just waiting for a purpose. 🙂 I thinking they are the BEST size for everything

  13. Oh my gosh, the trolls! I had a favorite teacher who was obsessed with them. Once she started collecting them, students just started giving them too her. I think she had close to one thousand in her office by the time she retired. She even gave me two that look like they were just married! Haha
