Happy Happy!

Happy Friday!!

You guys, I am so happy!  Not because it is the weekend,  not because Dylan woke up this morning with Pink Eye,  not even because its 8 am and I have had 2 Twizzlers Pull and Peel for breakfast. (psst dont tell Court, he gets sort of judgy when I eat candy for breakfast…)

We always say Happy Friday (as in have a great Friday),  but what if we changed it to Happy Friday (where we just talk about happy things on Friday)?  I think that is a great idea.  So in honor of Happy Friday,  I am going to share some of the things that are making me happy, and then you can chime in with what is making you happy today!

I am happy because for the last 2 weeks I have been working non stop on a room makeover for my adorable 15 year old niece Macie.  And there is light at the end of the tunnel!!!  Unfortunately it will not be making an appearance on the blog until April for Sherwin Williams National Painting Week, but I just had to explain why there have been zero tutorials for the last little bit on the blog.  It was one of those redo-everything-twice-to-get-it-right rooms.  But it is DONE!!  And I think it is my favorite room ever.  It includes a complete overhaul of this little ditty:

I am happy because my tall Fiddle Leaf Fig that has been dying a slow painful death,  is starting to regenerate leaves at the bottom of the trunks (if you can call those wimpy things trunks).  Literally every last leaf fell off of them and I was ready to throw it out, when I noticed a little peek of green at the bottom.  I am feeling very excited about it,  isnt nature just amazing?

Happiness is being able to laugh at all of the ways that you are coming up short.  Like the fact that my Christmas Tree is STLL UP.  WHYYYYYYYYY?  Please tell me if you are also in this club.  I need to feel better about this situation.

Remember that horrifyingly embarrassing picture I posted on instagram about the couch guts that were sitting on my driveway?  Good news.  Its gone.  That is happiness that spreads to my neighbors too.  It just warmed everyone’s heart.  (Sometimes Dylan likes to play in the dirt when I am working outside.  It adds to the white trash factor.)

Monday is our next Rock What Ya Got Party!!  This weekend is the perfect time to dig through your stash and find a project that has been on the list.  I cant wait to see what you guys have done!

Do you ever have something brought to your attention and then every time you do it you are like, oh my gosh, that is embarrassing.  I was talking to Cara yesterday, and she said that her husband can tell instantly when she is taking to me.  Want to know why?  Its because I say “Right” all the time.  So she says it too, and then he knows.  Now every time I say “right” I am super aware of it.  Maybe I need a t shirt or something.

This is a little bit of awkward happy.  Vintage Revivals is up for 2 pretty huge honors right now.  The Best DIY Blog over on Better Homes and Gardens, and The Apartment Therapy Homies (we are currently sitting at #6, just below the Top 5 cut off.)  I wish that these things were not voting based, but since I can only vote for myself so much, I need your help!

If you think VR is deserving of either of these titles, I would massively love a +1.

Click here for BHG (it is a one click vote, no log in required)

Click here for Apartment Therapy (you need an AT account but it is simple to set up if you dont already have one!)

So tell me my friends,  what is making you happy this fine day?

  1. Ummmm. I just cracked my HGTV mag last night in bed and DUH ME, I had forgotten Dylan’s room was featured. So there I am poking my poor resting Hubs in the side going “I KNOW HER!” The feature was awesome by the way 🙂 And we’re besties so the poking was justified. Right? Right!

  2. Oh I saw you were up for a voted. I voted for you! Good luck! Also, I totally need that vintage desk. Oh how I love it! It makes my soul happy.

  3. I must say – my christmas tree is still up too… I, however, plan on taking it down this weekend!

  4. Happy Friday!! I’m a stay at home Mom so my fridays feel a lot like wednesdays, or thursdays, but I’m happy that my husband will be home over the weekend to parent with me!! Breakfast? Coffee. Lunch? yup, coffee. Your twizzlers sound really good about now. My tree is down….but my neighbors are probably sick of seeing my door framed in greenery and cones with the potted trees with ornaments on my front porch but, pftt…whatever. At least I don’t have a dead couch in my yard…..yet.

  5. Hahaha soooo – I seriously love you! But not in a creepy stalker way – more like a ‘holy crap this girl rocks’ sort of way. Partially because…… I STILL HAVE MY CHRISTMAS TREE UP TOO! I love my big white Christmas tree with it’s funky, jewel-toned ornaments. “She” is going away this weekend. Sad – right? AND my fiddle leaf fig is almost dead too. I was just mourning the loss of yet another leaf last night. Now I’m holding on to hope!

  6. Our tree is totally still up, but I managed to snatch the Christmas wreath off the door two days ago. It’s all in the little victories right?! My happy right now is that we get to find out the gender of the bean I’m baking on Tuesday. I’m team pink (and sparkly) but my husband and son want another guy to outnumber me. We’ll see!

  7. Happy Friday to you too! I’m happy for one because I now know that I’m not the only one belong to the “LETS DECORATE OUR TREE FOR EVERY SEASON SO PEOPLE WILL THINK I HAVE IT STILL UP ON PURPOSE” club! I’m also happy that my room painting job is taking way longer than planned and my house resembles a Hoarders episode! Haha! Thanks for letting me know there are others in the Pull&Peel Breakfast Assoc too! Ya made my day! Btw, you have my vote!

  8. no worries, my christmas tree only recently came down. it’s such a pain in the bum, but once i did it, a surprising amount of stress vanished from my life!

  9. My Christmas tree makes me happy… yeap! Same boat, it is still on… Ad we are loving it! Not only it makes us smile but our guests too. We said until carnival, maybe some extras added just for it…and then call it a wrap without looking back 🙂

  10. i have voted for you over at AT…like, a bunch. i have many email accounts, don’t ask me why. i definitely think you deserve the win! congrats on making it to the finals (already knew you would). I was nominated under the family + kids category but didn’t make it to finals (already knew I wouldn’t). There’s always next year, yo! -Misty

  11. Oh yeah! I once had my Christmas tree up until April, and the decorations stayed up past the following Christmas. It’s a lot easier to put a tree up than to dismantle it. The decorations stayed up because they were ivory and gold, and who cares? If it bothered any guests, they were welcome to take them down. 🙂

  12. Thank you thank you thank you! I love reading the comments that other people still have their trees up! Taking mine down was a long process! The naked tree is currently in my front yard leaning against the fence. Thankfully I just put away the storage containers yesterday. They filled the floor space in my kitchen and it was so amazing to see it all cleared out this morning when I woke up!
