  17. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is having an early dinner and just relaxing in the afternoon with my husband and watching the Lions game [even though they're terrible!!] We rarely have down time the way we do around the holidays, and I love having that time together.

  32. Squeal!!! Family tradition..well this year, it will be a little different as my US MARINE has been serving overseas for the last 8 months with no time frame of return. We are just THANKFUL for our family and will be setting a place for "daddy" at the table.

  48. We pick names for a special Christmas gift. I love that tradition. I usually try to find a neat way to do the name pick. One year I out everyones name on ornaments and wrapped them in tissue paper. I could probably make cool ones with a silhouette

  60. My favorite Thanksgiving Tradition is actually the day after...we go to lunch at the same restaurant every year, then we we walk next door to the christmas tree lot and buy our tree! We go home and put it up and decorate and listen to Christmas music. It's an awesome time.

  69. I usually start my holiday baking on Thanksgiving by making 8 orange slice (candy) cakes during the day! They bake for 3 hours each, so it takes the WHOLE day!

  76. I think Thanksgiving is like a 2 day extravaganza! The women all cooking, the kids all playing(and we have 7 little ones in our family),the men are all out hunting.
    When everythings done & the men are back its time to eat & watch football.
    Then its NAPTIME!!
    We get up early the next morning to go score some good deals then its home to start the Christmas decorating! Its 2 days of Food,Fun & Family!!!!

My cousin and my mom and I have been making my grandmother's usual candies and treats. It feels great to keep her memory alive that way, and one day we will pass those things on to our children.

  136. I'm big on tradition, but since moving 1000 miles away from our families, we've had to start our own traditions. Now we host our fellow "transplants" to the area for Thanksgiving so we all feel like we're still with "family" on Thanksgiving.

  139. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I love everything about it, but especially the food and family and friends! We have done a thankful alphabet with my young kids where we list everything we are thankful for that begins with each letter of the alphabet... its always a lot of fun!

  176. I love getting out my great grandmother's recipe cards and reminiscing about the amazing Thanksgiving dinners she would prepare for us. She was an awesome cook. No matter how many times we prepare her dishes now and how well we know the recipes, we don't dare stray from the exact preparation instructions on he recipe cards.

  178. My favorite thanksgiving tradition is a new one since I married into my husband's family.. We are able to use their church and eat in the gymnasium.. After eating we play bingo and have a bouncy ball war! So much fun!

  183. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition lasts the whole month of November. We put a picture of a pumpkin on the wall in our dining room and whenever we eat a meal together, we write what we're thankful for.
