My fiance and I are adding a new tradition this year - running the annual Turkey Trot 5k in our town! Then we'll head to my family's house for food, football and spending time with the ever-growing family!
ReplyDeleteI adore that my Mom makes a yummy cranberry relish, but also puts out a can of cranberries still formed like the can, for tradition sake.
ReplyDeleteI think Thanksgiving is like a 2 day extravaganza! The women all cooking, the kids all playing(and we have 7 little ones in our family),the men are all out hunting.
ReplyDeleteWhen everythings done & the men are back its time to eat & watch football.
Then its NAPTIME!!
We get up early the next morning to go score some good deals then its home to start the Christmas decorating! Its 2 days of Food,Fun & Family!!!!
My favorite tradition is actually going out to eat at a restaurant so that we can spend the rest of the day visiting, playing games, and having fun. This way we don't have to spend a lot of time cleaning up!!

My cousin and my mom and I have been making my grandmother's usual candies and treats. It feels great to keep her memory alive that way, and one day we will pass those things on to our children.

ReplyDeleteI'm big on tradition, but since moving 1000 miles away from our families, we've had to start our own traditions. Now we host our fellow "transplants" to the area for Thanksgiving so we all feel like we're still with "family" on Thanksgiving.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Thanksgiving tradition lasts the whole month of November. We put a picture of a pumpkin on the wall in our dining room and whenever we eat a meal together, we write what we're thankful for.
