What do you do when you have approximately $10 to spend on replacing outdated drawer pulls? (Pssst… you get CREATIVE!) This is one of my favorite projects from Mandi’s Fall Facelift.

For this project all you need is a leather belt, hex screws, paint and a drill.
Start by painting the back side of your belt. I bought a sample/tester size (do this to save save save!!) You will need at least 2 coats because the leather is going to absorb your first layer pretty fantastically.

When your paint is dry take a straight edge and mark where you need to cut your belt. Each of our straps were 5 inches long.

Use your drill to drill 2 holes into your straps and insert your Hex screw.

So simple and such a fun way to add a little bit of secret color to your furniture.

ReplyDeleteThis is so great! We have the old belt already, paint and a few hex screws... I think I have the perfect candidate for this project!
ReplyDeleteThese are so fun an unexpected. What a great idea!

What a great little project... I think this would be perfect for a teen room!
ReplyDeletethe drawer pulls were a real stroke of inspiration! you don't always have to go to anthropologie, where you pay more that $10 for one pull, to have something unique and pretty.
ReplyDeleteI made leather drawer pulls for my craft cabinet, from Michaels, using an old leather wallet. But I really love how the pink looks- so clever! I must do this.
ReplyDeletenice job!
The hidden *pop* of color is genius!
ReplyDeleteI do love this! I'm thinking of using it for another project I'll do with a whole belt! :)

LOVE LOVE... Some days you completely out do yourself and today was one of those days! LOVE LOVE - I am definitely using this idea!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you think they would be okay at 6" long? They almost look a little short in the pictures. Would 6" give more room to grab?
ReplyDeleteLove these! The pop of pink inside makes my heart skip a beat. :)
ReplyDeleteI hate to break your plate but I had a dresser with leather drawer pulls several years ago and they won't last very long. The leather wears out fairly quickly from repeated use. It's cute though ;)
ReplyDeleteHow clever! Thanks for the heads up on the wear & tear. I will have to try on drawers that are not used daily.
DeleteThose are both clever and gorgeous! Love the mixture of soft/hard.
