The Hoard Sale 2012

By Mandi 05/29/2012

One of the lessons that I have learned in my DIY life is when you are shopping (ESPECIALLY thriting) and you see something you like GET IT. It will save you money in the long run to pay $8.00 for a chair as opposed to $100+ because you NEED it.

But alas my friends, when you follow this plan you accumulate a lot of stuff. And by a lot, I mean every time someone rings my doorbell unexpectedly I have a vision of the TV crew from Hoarders showing up.

Last week I teamed up with my BFF Brooke @ All Things Thrifty to have a giant Hoard Sale, and it was EPIC. THANK YOU to everyone who came and travelled and danced,  you guys are so amazing!!

There was only a handful of things left when we shut her down at 12:30.

We had the BEST time getting to know so many readers and though there were a few things that we were heartbroken to see go we know they went somewhere awesome.

Brooke Hoard Sale 056

This will be a yearly event (possibly more frequently depending on the state of our garages) so if you missed this one you have something to look forward to!

And of course we used the 5 Tips for creating Garage Sale MAGIC!!

Love  Your  Guts,  Mandi

  1. Oh Mandy! That WAS Epic. I wanted Half of what I saw!!!! Wish I could have been there. I was in St. George this weekend and saw a “Gubler Lane” over by Green Valley (?) and thought, “I wonder if that is Mandy’s Inlaw’s Lane.” you have that effect on me:) You rock!!!!

  2. That’s amazing. I knew I should have gone! Well, like you say, there’s always next year (next year, when my basement will be finished and I’ll have a whole new space to put stuff in). Also, this is probably super tacky or something to ask, but how much did you make? I’m just curious how much cash that much crap brings in.

  3. I don’t usually comment (I’m one of THOSE), but I’m DYING over here! DYIIIIING!
Had I known the teacup clock was going, I probably would have stowed away in the car with the folks driving down from Davis county.
    DYING!

  4. You guys suck. You know that feeling when you’re standing in front of Goodwill with another 30 people waiting for it to open, peeking in the windows, and you see a chair/table/frame that you know was meant for you and you think EVERY other person waiting with you wants it too? And your stomach does that weird, funky roll/drop? That was me last weekend when you were posting all your sale pics. I had to quit looking, y’all were making me sad! Kickin song, btw.

  5. You all don’t really suck, by the way. 🙂 That came off kind of mean. It just sucks that I live so far away from the most awesome sale ever.

  6. Thank you SO much for my couch!!! I can’t wait to find the perfect fabric and get started on her! NEXT year I am SO coming to the hoard sale, but even better? TAKE ME SHOPPING WITH YOU! I’d love to plan a girls weekend to visit you this summer or in the fall!

  7. Oh my goodness! It’s like black friday!! I wish I could have been there but I live in Texas! Maybe next year y’all can give a month or so heads up so we can plan a trip out that way!! haha!!

  8. wow, there was a lot of good stuff! don’t know how you parted with all of that. hopefully i will be in a new house next year and then I will be in serious furnishing mode, so see ya next year!

  9. I get the dreadful impression that you’re in the California/Arizona area. That would be an intense drive from Missouri. But it might just happen sometime. 😀

  10. So a self proclaimed hoarder of sorts too…. I have one question. How did you price things? I have some very similar items my husband wants me to sell. I have a furniture graveyard in my basement. =) beni

  11. WHERE IS THIS?? I love all your stuff and your energy. fun and I would love to come to your sale this year.

    1. It is in St. George UT! COME!!! I am announcing dates for this year’s sale in a few weeks!

  12. Thanks for the post about the garage sale tips. Having one soon. And I’m always glad to hear that someone else is as bad a “hoarder” as I am. It’s really an addiction, isn’t it? You have inspired me to get rid of more than I had originally planned. We can always find more, can’t we?
