FFA Challenge #3: Pick A Room, Any Room

By Mandi 05/07/2012

Fearlessly Finding Awesome is a club all about discovering your personal décor style not following everyone else’s. These posts are challenges that you can take to create magic in your home.

I bet you cant guess what todays challenge is about from the title right?

Todays challenge is to pick a room that you want to focus on. If you are nervous about it to the point that you don’t think you can go through it then pick a room that not everyone will see all the time. But don’t be scared!

In challenge #1 you defined what you want your house to FEEL like. In challenge #2 you defined your style more in depth, and today we are going to start doing stuff!!

Way way way back in July I mentioned that I had plans for a new room design. It has been almost a year and nothing in that particular space has changed.

Well guess what?

Its changing RIGHT NOW.

I am starting from the ground up…literally.

(And for those that may feel the need to scold me for ripping out the carpet, it needed to be replaced)

There are lots of big plans ahead my dearies,  BIG. And you might be saying to yourself…”Mandi SERIOUSLY WTFREAK!? Doesn’t your living room look like it just survived an earthquake? Shouldn’t you be working on that first?” Yes, yes it does. And yes, yes I probably should. But it’s the time of the year that I CRAVE projects. BIG projects. So I am going to be doing both. And sometimes I need extra motivation, and what pray tell is more motivating than having your 3 year old sleeping with you because her sister is sleeping in her bed because her bed is in the living room? Not much lady. THAT is motivation.

Now for the linky! I am sorry it wasn’t working last Challenge whatever the kink in the code was will be better this round.

Linky Rules

Love  Your  Guts,  Mandi

  1. I have totally been craving projects lately too! I’m not sure what has gotten into me, but it’s been bad! Like, REALLY bad! We recently made over our laundry room because I was so sick of looking at the blahness of it. We’ve already finished the makeover, so I can’t link up, but I will for sure be coming back to see what you do with this room! I’m sure it will be fabulous, as always:)

  2. I admire your ability to just up and do something dramatic. Can’t wait to see her room!

I’ll probably choose my living room. I have curtains and a curtain rod all ready. Just need to come up with a more cohesive plan.

  3. Hi Mandy, I linked up but I didn’t put which room sorry but my room redo will be my dining room. I am so looking forward to doing this room this will give me the motivation I need.
    Thanks again,
    Shinay Key

  4. I actually decided to makeover my craft room a little while ago. So I linked up the before pictures. I’m not finished with it yet, so I figured it still could count as part of the challenge. I entitled my post “Don’t Judge the Junk” because I was inspired by your saying “Don’t Judge the Hoard,” Mandi! 🙂

  5. I wish I could join in! Problem is we are currently renting, and will be for the next great while…So my decorating outlet is capsized while I deal with the paint someone else chose! Have fun everybody!

  6. I choose my master bedroom which I’m currently working on. It’s a challenge for me because of my crazy weird cathedral vaulted ceiling. I seriously lie in bed at night and stare at that damn ceiling in fear lol I’ve painted it and put up some molding but I still don’t feel like it does the ceiling justice. So Miss Totally Awesome Mandy (or anyone else out there!) if you feel like throwing any ideas my way I wouldn’t mind 😉 Mine is #9 🙂

  7. This challenge ties in perfectly with the start of my new blog and my targeted room to attack!! I’ve recently moved my 2 year old into a tiny room previously occupied by his big brother. Let me tell you, EVERYTHING needs changing-this will be fun!

  8. This feels like the kick in the pants I need to tackle some projects. My master bedroom still has milk-crate nightstands, and… I’ve been out of college for a VERY VERY LONG TIME! Thank you!

  9. Hi Mandy!

I don’t have a blog but I really love the quiz and you have inspired me to tackle my dining/woodstove/living room space. We live in there but it has an awful layout so I’m trying to get creative.
