FFA Challenge #1 Catch A Dream

Catch A Dream

Before you can start decorating all willy nilly you need to have a plan.

We are not talking a room design plan here people.

When I design a space the FIRST thing that I start with is the FEELING that I want to get from it.

I want my home to feel like me. Happy, energetic, a little strange, positive, and really really unique. So that is how I decorate it.

Today you get to write about YOUR personality traits. What are some of your favorite things about yourself?

And decide how you want your home to feel.

A house doesn’t feel Shabby Chic, it feels worn and loved. Does that make sense? Don’t hold back. If you want your house to feel exciting, neutral, and collected then that is GREAT!

When I look at Hailee’s house, to me it feels energizing and calming at the same time.

YOU DO NOT NEED A BLOG TO BE IN THE FFA!

This is something that you can do on your own in a journal, you can do it on FB, or if you want to start a blog its really easy.

Link up your posts below about how you want your house to feel.

And PLEASE bear with me as I try and work through this process! If you have feedback I would love to hear it,  I have never started an awesome club before (except the time I was in 3rd grade and started a club with my cousin called The Explorers).

Please only link up posts discussing this challenge! The linky will be open for a month so if you don’t have a spot on your blog or time right now to do it THAT IS FINE!!

Love  Your  Guts,  Mandi

  1. Mandi – I am in, but for some reason your FFA button is a no-go….I’d love to post it on my sidebar 🙂 Just an FYI. Look for my posting coming up.

  2. Hey Mandi…I’d love to join but I am not sure 2 days is enough time to get a new post up. Especially because I have scheduled posts set to go that are necessary. You know? Maybe it’s just me. Probably is :). But, I thought perhaps a little longer linky party for your club challenges would be useful? Maybe.

  3. Seems as though the links are not coming up. Maybe you are getting them and will sift through them? Not sure – but I attempted to link up, hope you have it!

  4. just clicked around on the posts already linked up & everyone is so different but awesome! i am legit giddy & excited about this club 🙂 .. that’s okay, right? haha

  5. So, you made me just think of something when you said, “I want my home to feel like me. Happy, energetic, a little strange, positive, and really really unique. So that is how I decorate it.”

From everything I’ve seen, your house reflects this description to a tee, but what about all the other people living in your house? Specifically, your husband?

So many times when I’m working on a room or project, midway through, I come out of my daze only to realize that I love whatever I was working on, but it does NOT reflect my husband in the slightest. (Maybe we’re just too different — I’m a vegetarian; he’s a hunter. I hate sports; that’s all he does. Etc.)

How do you find a good balance that satisfies both the “mood” of you and the “tone” of him? I want him to love our home as much as I do and to be comfortable in it….yet, I am NOT willing to put a dead trophy head above the fireplace! 🙂

  6. I heart this club! But I don’t heart people who link to this with a post that has nothing to do with with your totally awesome club. Please people stop trying to get traffic by linking up with nothing. It’s a bummer

  7. I don’ t have a blog, so yesterday I linked my Facebook page where I wrote about this challenge and my thoughts. Is that legal? xo

  8. Better late than never? Just found you today (saw you on studio5, you cute thang!)I really need to discover what my decorating style is so I am starting this challenge today. I didn’t really know how to find out what my style is, but I think you are on to something when you said it’s about the feeling you want to get! I know when I see something I like but it’s hard for me to incorporate it. Anyway, thanks for the challenge!
