The Evolution of A Childs Room: Angela Lansbury’s Bed

By Mandi 02/22/2012

Don’t lie. You know you love Angela Lansbury. And if you were a child with a bit of imagination you loved this movie and thought that all would be right with the world if you got a bed that had bedknobs.

We DVRed Bedknobs and Broomsticks a few months ago and my girls LOVE it. Which makes my garage sale bed even better!!

Can you believe that this bed was only $10.00?

Brass Bed

I met some of my favorite readers for lunch like FOREVER ago. When we were leaving the mentioned a yard sale they saw just down the street, and you guys know me, I am ALWAYS up for a yard sale. And there is was. For only 10 bucks. I might have ran to it…in heels…on a gravel path…and almost fell…BUT I GOT THE BED YO!

Brass Bed 003

Isnt it the perfect Bedknobs and Broomsticks Bed?! Off to the Island of Naboombu!

And if it looks like its been jumped on, its because it has.

So what do you think? Is it awesome, magical or both?

  1. If there was an award for luckiest thrift store/garage sale diva, you’d win. 😉

It’s beautiful! And we love Bedknobs and Broomsticks, too. I stole the VHS from my parents’ house many moons ago.

    Aloha,
    Charlie

  2. I LOVE that movie!! what an amazing bed. I’m actually glad you didn’t paint it and kept it vintage y character!!! I can not wait to see the rest of the room

  3. Oh you are BRILLIANT!!! I ALWAYS wanted a bed with bedknobs when I was a kid! I had a friend who was lucky enough to have such a bed, and whenever I went to her house we played that we flew all over the place and visited Portabello Road and the Island of Naboombu and everything. You DEFINITELY captured magic with this bed!! It is amazing! LOVE YOU!!!

  4. So awesome! I am loving your brass beds. I would sleep in that bed with my husband and bulldog… tight squeeze!

  5. YAY! I would have been SO excited to have that bed as a girl- my sisters and I watched that movie all the time! Awesome find- love it. And yes, it is Oh so magical!!

  6. Awesomely magical, magically awesome…it works either way. I can’t believe you got that for 10 bucks. It is amazing. Who go the bed? You got the bed! Yo!

  7. I’m thinking my guts are green with envy. We should go yard sale-ing. Better yet I’ll just come over and rub your head for luck, seeing as how you got all the luck!! 🙂

  8. I’m with Mrs Holly K. I am so coming to rub your head for luck (while she holds you down). I love the bed, it’s so perfect for your daughter’s age….magical, indeed.

  9. I’m kind of hate you right now. No offense. I have been searching & searching for these beds. I have pinned & repinned them on Pinterest. I have 2 girls who share a room, though, so I need a pair. So far it has been impossible to find a pair and equally as impossible to find even a single one in our area for less than $150. That is a magical find indeed! Trying to be happy for you instead of seething with jealousy. 😉

  10. Ok imagine this SAME EXACT bed as a full size… are you doing it? That is the bed that I slept in as a child/teenager/adult at my grandma’s house. Did I almost cry when we couldn’t make it out for the auction after she passed away? Oh you bet your bottom dollar, I did! But now you have a smaller version of it!! I am so happy for you!!!! 🙂

  11. I freakin LOVE that movie! I think you and your girls are about the only other people in the world that do. I always tried to make my siblings watch it with me when we were little I never won that battle. That bed will definitely add the magical element you have been talking about. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out! 🙂

  12. Absolutely positively too stinking cute!!! And the ten dollar bed isn’t bad either 😉 I can certainly see why you ran. In high heels. And may have taken a stumble but was not easily deterred 😉

  14. BOTH!!! I hate you in a very loving way right now! That is one AWESOME find! You’re A-W-E and your S-O-M-E….you’re awesome, you’re awesome….tot-ally! haha that may or may not be a cheer from junior high. Don’t judge! 😉 MUAH!

  15. that looks just like a bed that i kinda always wanted form pottery barn! and my husband eric vetoed that one. stinkin eric. and i can say that because you know him. ha

  16. Wow! It’s fantastic! I want one for the bedroom I’m redoing! It always brightens my day when someone finds such a great bargain at a garage sale 🙂

  17. I have a very similar bed that we got for free from family friends when I was 10-ish. It is now in our guest bedroom. So fun.
