No, I am not preggo. But thanks for thinking that…

At this very moment Me, Court and my 2 sisters are on a plane headed back to New York to do another round with Nate! (you can see pics from Round 1 Here) Does that explain the crazy project mode that I’ve been in for the last 3 weeks?!

  4. That’s going to be so fun! My husband and I go to NY every year, since his parents live upstate. Our favorite thing to do is simply act like a local. We get our metro cards, ride the subway, and stop at cute little thrift shops and funky restaurants. Move a few blocks from the main tourist areas, and you can find all sorts of cute gems. Oh, and I LOVE the downstairs food market at Grand Central.

  5. This is fantastic news! I tivo Nate’s show everyday and he is how you and I met…(well, not in person, ya know!). Can’t wait to see your segment!

  6. for a light lunch, i recommend stopping by Once Upon a Tart on Sullivan Street in the south village. you won’t be disappointed. their soups, savory and sweet tarts are not to be missed. yummy cookies and muffins too!

  7. Yay! Congratulations, how exciting! Can’t wait to see what you wear…and what you do! 🙂 {Such a girl}

  8. OMG Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy! I’m so excited for you!!! Can’t wait to see the segment & see all of the behind the scenes stuff you’ll post. Congrats Mandi…you rock

  9. The touristy stuff is fun! Make sure to hit a musical. I would say Wicked has been my favorite. And I love Little Italy. There is a little deli there that has proscuitto balls that are to die for. There is also an Amish store that has the best yogurt with honey, fresh berries, and granola that is so delicious for breakfast. Wish I was going with you!

  10. Lucky you, I watch Nate in Australia and am so pleased to find a show where they do not expect you to buy expensive but how to make things look that way. I have become such a fan. I have seen you on his show and now I feel I have had my “brush with fame”. Everytime he shows the people out there in tv space I thank him in my mind. I must admit I envy all the flea markets etc. you have over there. I will be in NY next year so maybe I can apply for tickets. Keep up your good work. I must admit I have been looking for a site to help me recover a chair. You made it so simple to understand thank you.

  11. For non-touristy – have lunch at Pastis in the Meat Packing District. Check out Purl Soho (sewing/knitting store). Wander around NoHo & Brooklyn.

For touristy – do the Sex & The City Tour!!

  12. Hooray! I can’t wait to watch it – I’m sure you will be awesome.

Wander around the village and down through little italy and chinatown – there are tons of fun shops and restaurants along the way.

Best cookies in the world – go to Levain’s on the upper west side. It is tiny but the cookies are HUGE :). I dream about those cookies. Seriously.

  13. This time of year in NYC means holiday windows. Bergdorf’s are always the most stunning, glamorous and spectacular. They are detailed works of art. Barney’s windows, created by Simon Doonan, are usually a tongue in cheek commentary and are avante garde, humorous and very creative. If you want something very special for lunch, email me and i can tell you about a wonderful place you wont forget and it is reasonable. Have a blast and bring layers.

  14. Oh Mandi, you have to go to the Met. The last time I was there, I only had 3 hours, 1 of which I spent in the Egyptian Tomb exhibit (which was cool). Talk about DIY. At an hour in, I realized I was in over my head and there was much more I wanted to see and wouldn’t have enough time. So, I grabbed my iPhone and started taking pictures of EVERYTHING. The Picasso’s, the Monets, the skyline on the roof. I now have a collection of pictures, my own prints if you will, of every major piece of art that I’ve ever loved (you should’ve heard me. I gasped. Out loud. Several times.) that I a) got to study while I was on the plane (because who here loves staring at the back of a bald man’s head for 4 hours) AND I can print them at will and put them on my walls.

If I could recommend one place in NYC – it’d be the Met.

  15. I regift but only if it’s something I can’t use. Someone gave me a gift card for icecream, but I don’t eat it. So I gave it to someone that does!!

  16. My husband & I just got back from NYC on Sunday and it was so much fun! My #1 recommendation is to eat at the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. It is right across from the Flat Iron building and is (no joke) the BEST cheeseburger & cheese-fries I have ever eaten!

Take the #4 (green) subway from Grand Central to Union Square/14th Street, then the N-R (yellow) to the 23rd Street station. You will NOT regret it :).

  17. That’s so awesome for you! I can’t wait to see the episode.

NYC during Christmas is awesome! I live in Rochester, NY and I love going to the city this time of year. All the fancy department stores have amazing displays, so it’s fun to browse all of them. And if you’re in upper Manhattan you should go ice skating at the Rockefeller rink, just to say you did. It will take a good chunk out of your day, so plan 3-4 hrs for it. And go get a Frrrozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity (the actual place they filmed the movie & the cutest little restaurant ever!) They usually have ridiculous waiting times (like 3 hours) so put your name on the list, go get lunch somewhere nearby, or do some browsing at Bloomingdales, and then go get your dessert. 🙂 https://www.serendipity3.com/location.htm

Hope you have a great time!

  18. Have a blast in NYC! You HAVE to eat at 2 places… Grimaldi’s Pizzeria – under the Brooklyn bridge on the Brooklyn side – best pizza you will ever eat, and Max Brenners – on Broadway between 13th and 14th – CHOCOLATE to die for! And you definitely have to see Wicked. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen… worth every penny! Enjoy!

  19. I am totally a regifter. I try to think about whether the new person will actually enjoy the gift better than I did, though, before passing it on.
