Silhouette Insider Info

By Mandi 03/24/2011

So you guys all know how much I love Madonna right?

Not this Madonna,

This Madonna

My homies at Silhouette sent me some of their Brand Spanking New Sold Out But Is Now Back Fusible Fabric Interfacing. FYI the acronym for that would be BSNSOBINBFFI. Pretty great if you ask me.

In my previous life before Vintage Revivals I made baby crap. And I did not have a Silhouette. Nor did I have their awesome fabric interfacing. So I used scissors. And Wonder Under. Which I hated. Cause it was too stringy and the only option that you had was to sew around it.

Well guess what. Silhouette has 2 kinds of interfacing. Sewable and Clean Cut (Non Sewable). So it gives you the option to be a little lazy and still have high quality stuff. Props to Silhouette for that option right?

So this is what I did with it. Basically a monkey can do it.

You iron on your interfacing to the back of the fabric.

Peel off the paper

That will leave the interfacing on the fabric. See how it made it shiny? Then put the fabric face up on your heavy cutting mat (the green one)

I also double cut the fabric (its in the Send To Silhouette Menu under Change Settings) Just to make sure that I cut it all.

Then position it, iron and Ta Da! A mildly offensive pillow!

And guess what you can do it too.

Right this second until March 27th you can buy a freaktatstically awesome Silhouette bundle that has everything you need.

It includes:

1 Silhouette SD, one of eachΒ  fabric interfacing (clean cut & sewable) and a roll of white flocked heat transfer material for the LOW LOW price of only $229. Regular price is $330.00

and for those of you lucky dogs that have a Silhouette already you can get 25% off of the interfacing!

Just enter the code VINTAGE at checkout.

And cause I love you SOOO MUCH I am going to let you in on a little secret. My friend Emily is having a giveaway for a Silhouette right.this.second. So go and enter! You have until the 27th! Go Go GO!!

  1. My Mom just sent me your blog – she said it’s her FAVORITE blog {note that I have a blog too!}. Hahaha. I must agree – this blog is fantastic. I’m your newest follower πŸ™‚

  2. Your pillow-
    I laughed.
    Out loud.

It’s a good thing I don’t have any extra money (law school tuition can do that to a family). I’d be blowing it on BSNSOBINBFFI.
Wait a minute- how is it a ‘good thing’ I don’t have any extra money? I think that phrase is overused and underthought.
Don’t mind me, I’ll just have a conversation over here by myself.

  3. haha – that pillow cracks me up… do you think ManOfTheHouse would mind if I put one like it on my side of the bed?

I could always make another for HIS side of the bed that said “‘meh, not so bad either”

  4. I’m pretty sure I love you & your blog and seriously can’t believe that I’d never come across it before. My husband says we’re probably long lost sisters because I walk around the house saying “Crap. I’m awesome.” This pillow is perfection and I’ll have to recreate one for my ugly couch πŸ™‚

  5. I want a silhouette SO bad! My bday is coming up and I want to ask for one! I have so many ideas and I NEED one! Thanks for the link to the contest too πŸ™‚ xoxo

  6. I love your blog! I get the updates on my phone (*N3RD*) and usually don’t comment because…well…phones don’t do that yet. For this project I had to log on and send my love. You have rapidly soared to being my favorite blogger to read.

  7. So about this machine…I know I can use fonts from my computer but can I also use images? Or can I scan images to my computer and use those on the Silhouette?? Just wanted to ask someone who has one. Thanks!!

    Mandi

  8. Oh how I envy that machine! I am currently in the business of getting ready for baby girl #2 and I’ve been dealing with Wonder Under and scissors, too. Ugh. πŸ˜‰
