Amidst all of the craziness of the holiday season and all of the tragedy that seems to be hitting Utah this last week, one message has pierced my soul. Thanks {Melanie @ Frosted Garner}for posting about this.
This is the Provo Tabernacle. Its where Latter Day Saints have gathered for more than 130 years to worship.

Such a tragedy. But as always the Lord is watching. Exercising miracles.

The painting of Christ at the Second Coming was found scorched black from the fire. Everywhere except where He is.
Though this life may try to consume us in its fiery fury. Like this painting we will not be consumed by it, if we are consumed in Christ.

What a beautiful building. Such a shame. My grandmother had something similar happen when her house had caught fire with her picture of Christ.
I love following your blog…you seem to be such a fun loving person. But I love your blog even more now! I saw this too and it gave me chills. They are calling this a “Christmas miracle” and I have to say, I agree. May seem silly, but this has given me a boost in my Christmas spirit and what we should really be focused on this time of year! My best friend is from Provo and attended that very Tabernacle growing up. I know she is heartbroken as well.

Thanks for this post Mandi, and about telling your life story. This past week my cousin overdosed on oxycontin and nearly died. She was in intensive care for a few days and finally came home this weekend. Your story has given me so much perspective and hope for my sweet cousin- thanks for changing lives!

I’m so sad too that it burned down– I couldn’t believe it when my hubby called to tell me. That’s where we always had stake conference when we lived in Provo when we were first married. We lived 3 blocks away. Such a beautiful building.
Very sad for all who congregated there and those who simply admired a gorgeous building. Every photo I’ve seen of Utah landscapes and buildings has always been so picturesque.
I grew up by that building and went to many conferences and concerts there. I was sad to see it burn too. It also makes me sad to think about all the time and sacrifices the pioneers put into building it.
I used to drive by the Tabernacle all the time when we were at BYU. Such a sad story- but seeing that picture gave me the biggest chills. Thank you for posting this. Merry Christmas Mandi!!
When we lived in Provo, we met in this building many times. I’ve always loved it. (Well, maybe not the hard pews!) Seeing it go up in flames made my heart hurt. But I found peace in the miracle of the painting as well. Pretty cool stuff!

A Christmas miracle!
This just brought tears to my eyes but then when I saw the painting it kinda gave me a peace. We can’t explain how or why tragedy happens but we need to have faith in him and that is what I am working on this year!
