Look What I Found Friday

Hello all!  I am so excited today for a few reasons…

1.  I have 235 followers right this second!  Hooray!!

2.  I made it a whole 6 days without going thrifting.  This is HUGE for me (as many of you know)  But I did cave and go today so that I would have something to post about and guess what?!?!?  I found a few great things!  Not just knick knacky things that I dont really need,  cool furniture things that I probably don’t need but will find a place for.  Ha Ha Ha!

3. IT IS FALL!  This has been the theme of everyones blogs for weeks but I live in Southern Utah where up unitl a few days ago it was 105.  I love it when the weather changes down here!

4. I just found out that Yo Gabba Gabba Live is coming to Salt Lake in Nov.  our family DIES over Gabba.

Ok so without further adieu here’s what I rounded up today…

Great woven cane chair $10.00 (I cant wait to get to work on this!!)
Yes, another chandy.  Major plans in the works here people.  Major. $8.00
Old wooden filing cabinet.  I LOVE this but I dont know where to put it, and I think I just wnat to leave it wood.  How do you restain it without making it look new?  Any suggestions would be awesome!! $8.00
Just one more really random question.  Do you put the description of the pic before it or after and why?
I cant decide how to do it, and its making me so frustrated!
What treasures have you gathered this week? Link up and share!!

I have that exact same light fixture sitting in my basement. We took it down after we moved in so I’m curious to see what you’re going to do with it! Love that filing cabinet!

I haven’t gone thrifting in over 4 weeks. It’s part of my vow to finish what I have before buying more.

I’ve tried placing my picture descriptions before and after the picture, but I’ve found that it can sometimes be confusing depending on the purpose of the description.

On my blog my pictures are framed so when I add a caption to the picture, the caption is within the frame and under the picture. I think it’s less confusing that way.

I stained an old table that the finish was wearing off of…I just used a fine grain sand paper to rough up the whole thing, wiped it down really well (let dry over night) and then stained the color I had picked. I then used a clear coat to seal.

I switch back and forth. I can’t decide either, but I tend to lean towards the description after the picture. I don’t know why. 😀

I can’t wait to see the transformations! I really want to do something with a chandelier but I don’t have the room, resources, place for it afterward, nor the time. :( But I sure do love seeing the posts!

$8 for the wood file cabinet? Nu-uh! What a steal.

Okay, my opinion on the pics thing: If it’s a short description, I like to put it next to the pic, in smaller words (sometimes italicized). That makes it really clear what description goes with which pic. Otherwise, I do it underneath. If it’s a long description, I put it underneath, in the same size font, no italics, but I always make sure there’s a couple of spaces after the description, and before the next pic, to delineate when the next pic/description set starts.

    Clear as mud? 😉

I don’t like it when the description comes first. Then I have to scroll down to see what’s being described. And I hate it when it’s a mishmash, and I have to scroll up and down to figure out whether the blogger is putting the descriptions before or after the corresponding pic, and there’s not even extra spaces between…or even worse, the blogger sometimes puts the description before, and sometimes after the pic. Eeek!

    Ok, that was long. LOL

I was going to say EVERYTHING Simply Natural Homestead said, so won’t repeat it. Yikes! Great minds must think alike, so I better go check out her blog.

Oh I can’t wait to see what you do with the light. We have the exact same one in our kitchen. We are almost finished remodeling in there but haven’t replaced the light yet because I can’t decide what I want. Now I am just dieing to see what you do in case I like it better then replacing mine. :)

The Chandelier over my table is just like the one you purchased. Please let us know what you do with it! I don’t love mine at all.
