Help!!!

By Mandi 09/11/2010

I need your advice!

A morning show in Salt Lake is doing a contest for their next contributor,  I have my submission taped filmed but I am worried about the projects that I am showcasing. You have to film 3 projects,  im just not sure if I filmed the 3 best ones…If you could leave me a comment with the project(s) that you think are the most interesting I would LOVE and appreciate it so much. The ones that I filmed are the {stick art},  {reclaimed wood sign}, and {tin foil nightstand}.
Thanks ladies, I love your guts!!

  2. Good morning. I’m new around here, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I love your passion for color, your creative eye, and your love of giving forgotten objects of yesteryear a second life. I love vintage myself – especially the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. The mid-century was colorful and creative and people were resourceful. Back to your question, the nightstand is a given. Girl, one word, AMAZING. I also love your cabinet door redo’s/repurpose (I think you called them knobby shelves?). Another favorite was a cane upholstered chair re-do that was a cream color with a black and yellow upholstery? LOVED that. I really like your stick art too. Brilliant. So simple, but beautiful and organic. I’m from Colorado, your neighbor to the east, so I can appreciate bringing the outdoors in. To be honest about your reclaimed wood sign, I love the concept and the look of the reclaimed wood, but the stencil font threw me a little bit. It reminded me of the stencils the Army uses to mark everything (sort of like the MASH logo), so to me it looks like what was left over from an old army crate, and I didn’t get how that fit with your style. An elegant font would have been a beautiful contrast to the rustic wood and that juxtaposition would have made sense to me. But again, I loved the idea in theory. All that being said, and I said a lot, sorry, I think everything you do is nothing short of amazing and whatever projects you pick will be sure to knock that morning show’s socks off.

  3. I love everything too, but my “I want to copy that” faves are the tea cup clock and the family name on the reclaimed wood. I’m sure it will be a success whatever you chose, just wish I could watch it in the UK!

  4. I think those 3 that you already filmed are awesome ones! I think the stencil wall is pretty stinkin’ awesome too! Also the repurposed cabinet doors are clever too! I think you will be awesome and win with any of your projects!! Good luck and I can’t wait to see if you get picked! I love Studio 5 and Good Things! Are one of those the show you are trying for?! Can I ask that?

  5. yo girl. You go. Seriously. Don’t forget abut the mirror wall! I think that appeals to many people, and a tv show might be looking for something like that:)

Also, your cabinets are something everyone wants to do so thats a good choice and the night stand shows off your creativity and trendiness!

Oh and I know this is four, but the cabinet doors/hooks were soo cute!!

  6. I’ll make mine short and sweet. YOU CAN’T GO WRONG! Good luck, not like ya need it! HUH! Can’t wait to hear all about it. SmooCheS!

  7. I LOVED the stick art so I’m glad you chose that. Anything you choose will be great. I love everything you’ve done! And I remember when I was your 101th follower and like the next day you were up past the 200 mark. So keep up the great work!

  8. Well, I’ve been tin-foiling for three days straight now (note to self: give children straws b/c of the breathing thing), so I would say tin foil. But that seems to be all I *can* say lately…”tin foil…tin foil…tin foil…”
Seriously, I have been trying it, and as I learn, I’m impressed by the attention to detail such a piece must have required. I think I’m finally getting the hang of it, and it’s not hard, but now I know how cool it is that you did a whole nightstand. So I say, again, “tin foil.”

  9. I loved the stick art and nightstand, but might choose the teacup clock over the reclaimed wood. The clock was super clever and I think stands out a little more than the wood (though I did like that, too). Best wishes!!

  10. All three projects are fantastic! I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. My favorite project has been the Yellow Mirror you gave away. Did you ever post on how to do that? I’ve been dying to get one ever since I saw it on here. I would love to learn how to do it.
